God has made us what we are, and in our union with Christ Jesus he has created us for a life of good works, which he has already prepared for us to do. Ephesians 2:10 (TEV)
Each of us were created for a purpose. The things we need to fulfill our purpose were built into us when we were created by God. When we accept Christ, God gives us the power to use those things. We may need to grow and develop, but what we need has already been provided by God.
We are created to serve God and serve others. Each of us has a different way we can serve. We can serve by taking care of children or by being a shoulder to lean on for a friend. We can serve others by sharing an encouraging word with someone having a bad day or sharing the talent that comes easy for us with someone in need. We are created to serve.
