Descriptions for Volunteer Areas

HC Meals

Our volunteers will provide a hot meal, either prepared or purchased, and deliver this meal to a person or family in need, showing God’s love no strings attached.

Heritage Prayer Team

We have teams of volunteers who pray for those at Heritage Church each week.  Sign up to volunteer on this team today!

Jail Ministry

There are multiple ways to serve others in this ministry:

  1. Be a mentor to men and women when they are released from jail (67% of those who are released without a mentor end up jail again)
  2. Be a Bible Study Leader
  3. Lead worship services
  4. Have one-on-one meetings with those who are in jail to pray and encourage them
  5. Join a prayer group that will pray for the jail itself at the jail site (no contact with those incarcerated)
  6. Become a pen pal through the Chaplain program at the jail (no personal information is shared)
  7. Financial support to help those who have been released

Divorce Care

Our volunteers help those who have gone through a separation or divorce.  This is a great way to help others dealing with this difficult experience.

Grief Share

Losing a family member can be extremely difficult.  Our volunteers help to support those during the grieving process.

Hope Keepers

Hope Keepers serves to support others with chronic illness or pain.  Sign up to volunteer on this team today!

Celebrate Recovery

This recovery program addresses all types of hurts, habits and hang-ups. Some recovery programs deal only with alcohol, drugs or another single problem. But Celebrate Recovery is a “large umbrella” program under which a variety of issues are covered.  Volunteers are needed in a variety of areas including group leaders, singers, those to assist with set up/tear down, etc.  Sign up to volunteer in Celebrate Recovery!

The Pantry

For individuals or families in need in our community, our Pantry Ministry dispenses free food and hygiene products on Saturdays at the Sterling Heights Campus.  We welcome donations and/or volunteers from businesses, organizations, families and individuals.

LifeBUILDERS

The LifeBUILDERS organization is committed to transforming lives and the area around 8 Mile Rd & Kelly Rd in Detroit.  Volunteers are needed for a variety of projects including neighborhood beautification, construction (painting, electrical, plumbing, etc.), and youth leaders for the weekly youth programs.

Life Remodeled

Life Remodeled has a focus on remodeling neighborhoods and lives.  Each year approximately 10,000 volunteers will gather to help revitalize the neighborhood around a local Detroit school.  Sign up above to get your name on the list and we will contact you in the future about this beautification project which takes place July 31 – August 5.

Pokot Tribe (Kenya)

Heritage Church is proud to support the Pokot Tribe in Kenya, Africa.  We help to provide clean water to the communities, educational materials, and assist local pastors in spreading the gospel.  Submit the form above to find out how you can get involved or go on a missions trip to Kenya.

Eat Well Cafe

What if, by buying food for your family, you could also provide food and water for children and families in Africa? This is one of the purposes of the Eat Well Café.  The café supports many charities both locally and globally.  We encourage you to not only eat at the café, but also tell your family and friends that they can make a difference by visiting the café too.

McRest

Did you know that there are over 7,000 homeless people in Macomb County?  McRest is a local organization that helps those who are homeless get back on their feet.  Each year Heritage Church will host McRest for approximately a week and assist the homeless guests by providing food each night, giving them a ride to work, etc.  To sign up to volunteer, simple submit the form above.
