Make The Right Choice

Over the next couple of weeks we will be looking at the life of Samson and the power of our choices.

Samson went down to Timnah and saw there a young Philistine woman. When he returned, he said to his father and mother, “I have seen a Philistine woman in Timnah; now get her for me as my wife.Judges 14:1-2 (NIV)

Samson clearly knew that it was forbidden to marry a pagan woman, but he still pursued the very thing that should have been off limits. Why did he pursue her? The simple answer… just because he could. Samson couldn’t use the excuse that he didn’t know it was wrong. He knew the command from God about marriage, but chose to do the opposite because she appeared appealing to him. Think about your life. What things are readily available and appealing to you? If you had the opportunity to do wrong and no one was around and no one was looking, would you do it? Make a decision today to obey God at all costs. No matter what you think or feel, choose what is right.

So let God work his will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him scamper. Say a quiet yes to God and he’ll be there in no time. Quit dabbling in sin. Purify your inner life. Quit playing the field. Hit bottom, and cry your eyes out. The fun and games are over. Get serious, really serious. Get down on your knees before the Master; it’s the only way you’ll get on your feet. James 4:7-10 (MSG)
