It means we’d better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Hebrews 12:1-2 (MSG)
It is easy to get distracted with different things in life. When things are going well, we sit back and take it easy. We aren’t as dedicated to the activities we know we need to do, such as prayer time with God or reading our Bible. The race is still on whether we are running or not. We need to remember to never stop running our race. We need to keep doing what God has called us to do. As we keep our eyes on Jesus, we are reminded to never quit.
God, thank you for providing the perfect example (Jesus) of what it means to begin and finish this race we are in. Remind me to never quit. Help me to remove the distractions from my life that are slowing me down as I run my race. Help me to finish strong. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
