I Will Conquer This

Have you ever watched a baby focus intently on an object that was out of reach?  They will stare at it, as if they are secretly plotting a grand scheme for how they are going to get it into their hands.

The interesting thing is that babies don’t understand the concept of “I can’t.”  They will keep trying and trying until they get the result they want.

Also, babies don’t let obstacles get in their way.  If they are trying to get from one side of the room to the other and you are lying on the floor, they will simply climb over you to get what they want.

Maybe we can learn something from little children.

Think about your own life.  Everyone has something they are dealing with.  Some of you could be battling health issues, struggling with your teenage children or have a relationship on the verge of collapse.

The first step to conquering a mountain is to decide that you will conquer the mountain.  Say to yourself, “I will conquer this.”  Make the decision that you are not going to give up no matter what you are facing in life.  Come to Jesus humbly with an attitude that all things are possible, just like the little child.  If we will simply ask for His (Jesus) help, He will help us in our time of need.  Take 2 minutes to pray and ask Jesus for His help.

He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.  Matthew 18:2-4 (NIV)

(We could have analyzed the verse above from a variety of perspectives, but think about it in terms of the attitude of a child in the presence of Jesus.)
