The Giant of Delay

“Now David was the son of an Ephrathite named Jesse, who was from Bethlehem in Judah. Jesse had eight sons… Jesse’s three oldest sons had followed Saul to the war…The three oldest followed Saul, but David went back and forth from Saul to tend his father’s sheep at Bethlehem.” 1 Samuel 17: 12-15 (NIV)

Sometimes, the giant of delay can appear in our lives. As David experienced, people and situations arise that can keep us from doing what we know we should do at the time we want to do it. Patience in the face of people or things keeping us from our goals, and perseverance to keep going are important in moving forward in our personal battles.

Prayer: Lord, please help me to be patient where I am being delayed in my life. Allow me to see where and what circumstances I must be patient with so that I may persevere in the battle I am heading into. Let my faith in you guide me as I seek victory over the giants in my life so that I may ultimately bring glory to you. Amen.
