Love prospers when a fault is forgiven, but dwelling on it separates close friends. Proverbs 17:9 (NLT)
In this life we will always have disagreements with others. There will be topics we do not agree on. There will be emotions that creep up that we were not aware of. Others may intentionally or unintentionally hurt our feelings. When a friend does something to hurt us, we have two choices. We can choose to dwell on it and let the problem fester and get bigger or we can choose to forgive and work it out. When we choose to forgive, it can bring our friendship closer together. Forgiveness is not always easy, but it eventually makes us feel better. Learn to forgive them.
Prayer: God, thank you for reminding me of the importance of forgiveness. Show me the relationships in my life where I have been separated from a close friend. Help me to work through the past hurt and forgive them. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
