He Will Forgive You

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.  1 John 1:9 (NIV)

God is a loving father who wants the best for us.  In the parable of the prodigal son, Jesus explains that there was a son who requested his inheritance from his father.  He then departed to another country and wasted all of his money.  That same son got a job feeding pigs in a field and he was very hungry because he had no money.  He quickly came to the realization that even his father’s servants had more food than he had.  He knew his father desired for him to have a better life.  So, he returned home.  Before he could reach the house, his father saw him in the distance.  Instead of being angry, the father ran to him and hugged him.

Maybe you are like the prodigal son or have a specific area in your life where you are choosing to do what you want (instead of what God’s wants).  You are far from God, but have the realization that God wants something better for your life.  God is like the father in the story.  He’s not angry at you, but waiting to accept you back with open arms.  If you admit your sins to Him (God) and ask for forgiveness, He will forgive you.  Take a moment and reflect on the verse above.
