Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 (NIV)
Each of us may have heavy burdens at times. We may be struggling in a relationship. We may have received a bad report from the doctor. We may be having trouble financially. As Christians, we never have to walk alone through our struggles. God is our ever-present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1). We can cry on His shoulder. We can cry out to Him for help. We can go to Him and exchange our heavy burdens for His rest.
We can also share the Good News with others we know going through trouble so they’ll know they don’t need to go through it alone. There is a friend that sticks closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24). They can have a personal relationship with their Creator – the one who knows them better than they know themselves. We can tell them about the rest they can have when they lay their burdens down.
Next Steps:
Who do you know that is going through struggles right now? Pray that God would prepare their heart to hear about His love for them. Show them God’s love today by helping them carry their burden. Spend some time as a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on.
