Build Your Muscles

Build Your Muscles

But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me…  Philippians 3:13-14 (NIV)

Those who have trained for a marathon know the effort they put into their preparation.  They practice on a regular basis, starting out slowly and increasing over time.  As they continue their practice they become stronger and stronger.  The marathon runner has a goal in mind and works hard to achieve that goal.  They work hard even when their muscles are sore and tired, pushing through the pain to strengthen themselves.

When we have a goal, we may need to push forward taking small steps at a time.  Each step we take closer to our goal may cause a little more strain.  As you keep pushing, some things will become easier.  You will be able to do more and more to reach your goal.  It is time to build those muscles so you can reach the goals God has planned for you.

Prayer: God, thank you for reminding me that reaching a goal is a slow and steady process.  Help me to take a step closer to my goal each day.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
