Transformed in My Vocational Health (Day 48)

If the ax is dull and its edge unsharpened, more strength is needed but skill will bring success. Ecclesiastes 10:10 (NIV)

Anyone who has attempted to cut something can tell the difference between the ease of a sharp knife compared to a dull knife.  When trying to cut with a sharp knife, the knife wielder does not have to apply much effort to cut through.  It easily slices through like a knife through butter.  But when the knife is dull there is more effort and work to cut through.  Each cut takes more effort than the last as the knife wielder is being worn down by their efforts.

God has given us each talents and abilities.  There are certain activities that we can complete with ease.  For some, it may be managing projects or people.  Others may be talented at teaching or tutoring.  Some may be skilled at designing things while others spend their time serving.

But there is always room for learning and growth.  We can expand our talents and abilities eventually making other areas of our work easier.  We can sharpen our ax by reading books, watching videos, or taking courses to learn new skills.  We can also watch others and learn from them to sharpen our edges.  As we spend time sharpening our skills, it will bring success to our future.
