“…what God has joined together, let no one separate.” Matthew 19:6 (NIV)
When a man and woman join together in marriage, they are making a covenant. A covenant is a formal, solemn, and binding agreement. They stand before God, family and friends and enter into an agreement of what they are committed to do together for the rest of their lives. This is not a matter to be taken lightly. Once you enter into the marriage contract, it is not one that can or should be easily severed. But entering into a marriage should be done prayerfully and with good counsel. Once you enter the marriage, you are vowing to dedicate the rest of your lives to each other.
