Everyday Life

That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?… So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Matthew 6:25-27, 31-33 (NLT)

Each of us have needs in our lives. We need clothes to wear, food to eat and a roof over our heads. Along with these physical needs, we also need love, relationships and purpose. None of our needs are a surprise to God. He planned in advance exactly how to meet your needs. He created you with the ability to work to help provide for your needs. He placed you in community to build relationships with others. He sent Jesus to die on the cross for your salvation. If God can take care of your eternal life before you were born, He can take care of your everyday life while you are living on earth today.

Next Steps:
Think about needs God has met in the past. Write down five needs God has met for you. Each time you think of a need throughout the day, remind yourself about the needs God has already met and thank Him for doing it again.
