For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 1 Timothy 6:10 (KJV)
Many people misquote this verse. They tend to think that money is a bad thing and they expect that Christians are supposed to live a life of poverty. But the Bible tells us that the love of money is where the problem lies. When the love of money becomes our focus, we stop focusing on our love for God. Money then becomes the primary topic in our thoughts. We focus on things instead of the Creator of all things. Decide today where you will focus your love.
Prayer:
God thank you for reminding me that misplaced love is the root of evil. Forgive me if I have replaced my love for you with other things. Help me to show you my love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
