…Don’t let anyone put you down because you’re young. Teach believers with your life: by word, by demeanor, by love, by faith, by integrity. Stay at your post reading Scripture, giving counsel, teaching. And that special gift of ministry you were given when the leaders of the church laid hands on you and prayed—keep that dusted off and in use. Cultivate these things. Immerse yourself in them. The people will all see you mature right before their eyes! Keep a firm grasp on both your character and your teaching. Don’t be diverted. Just keep at it… 1 Timothy 4:12-16 (MSG)
It is easy to look at your past and think you are not experienced enough to make a difference. You can think of yourself as not knowing enough or not being taken seriously by anyone. We may not feel as if we are old enough to influence others. But God reminds us that we can teach others by our lives. We can spend time in God’s word, grow in the gifts God has given us and live a life of love, faith and integrity. As we become more like Christ, people can watch us mature before their eyes.
Prayer:
God, thank you for reminding me that I can be used by you no matter what my age is. Help me to teach others through my life. Continue to help me grow in maturity and become more like you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
