The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. Psalm 145:18 (NIV)
God almost never answers my prayers immediately. I’ll pour my heart out to Him in prayer, and normally I don’t receive a response right away. There are times when this will frustrate me, but I usually feel better after expressing my emotions even without the benefit of an immediate answer. God is the Perfect Gentleman. He lets me vent my emotions to Him, and He never interrupts. Really, isn’t that what we often want?
When things are tough, sometimes we just want someone to listen to us. You may not need a solution, per say, just an open ear to pour your heart into. God is always there and He is always willing to listen when we call out to Him. Even when it feels like no one understands, God always understands. Our friends or family may offer a well-meaning Bible verse or phrase of comfort, but when you need a comforting listener, God is always near to those who call on Him.
Prayer: Dear Lord, in the busyness and craziness of life, remind me that I can always call out to You, and You will listen. May I turn my heart to you during the good times, the bad times, and every time in between. I ask for Your comforting presence and Your understanding ear as I pour out my heart to You. Thank you, Lord, for being with me always. Amen.
