“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.” John 14:1 (NIV)
In Day 4 of this series, you read that Jesus is God’s Son sent to pay the price for all sin. But who is Jesus? As believers we have to acknowledge that the Bible is the true word of God. The Bible is broken up into 66 books and comprised of the Old and New Testaments. The Bible is proven to be accurate by secular historians and archaeological discoveries.
Jesus is God the Son. Jesus was with God when the world was created (John 1:1-2). Jesus always was and always will be God. Now that we’ve established that Jesus is God, let’s discover the truth about Jesus being man.
The first four books of the New Testament are written about the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Jesus was born of a virgin mother and lived a perfect sinless life. He was tempted by the devil and is familiar with suffering just as people suffer. It was the “sinless factor” that proved Jesus to be the perfect sacrifice for the sin of the world.
Jesus’ main ministry was to point people to God the Father. He sought to do the will of the Father during His life on earth. Jesus performed miracles, healed the sick, fed the hungry, and cared for the poor. Everything Jesus did brought glory to God.
Friends, it’s important to know it’s not enough to accept Jesus as a man of history…like Abraham Lincoln, but to accept Jesus as the Son of God. We must recognize that Jesus is fully God and was fully man. Jesus was the perfect, sinless offering that paid the price for the sin of the world.
