Money shows what you love and trust the most.
“Don’t store up treasure here on earth. . . . Instead, store your treasures in heaven. . . . for wherever your treasure is, that’s where your heart will be.” Matthew 6:19-21 (NLT)
If you trust in your money, you will fall, but if you trust in God, you’ll flourish like a green tree. Proverbs 11:28 (NLT)
How you spend your extra money shows what you love the most. Do a checkup on your checkbook. Do you put your money where it matters most? What you do with your money shows what’s important to you.
Money will fail you. Do you remember the financial crisis of 2008? There is no guarantee. God wants you to invest in things that last forever. Jesus talked more about stuff than heaven and hell. Jesus knew our hearts would get wrapped around money.
Tithing is showing we trust God. We trust God to meet all our needs. He knows what you need. When we tithe it helps us rely on God and trust in Him. Will you trust in God and not in things? God invites you to test Him with your finances.
“Should people cheat God? Yet you have cheated me! But you ask, ‘What do you mean? When did we ever cheat you?’ You have cheated me of the tithes and offerings due to me. You are under a curse, for your whole nation has been cheating me. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!” Malachi 3:8-10 (NLT)
FACT: All money is God’s money. It all comes from God.
ASK: For God’s guidance and direction on what to do with the money He gives you.
