My Duty

My Duty

…Telling the Good News is my duty—something I must do. And how terrible it will be for me if I do not tell the Good News. 1 Corinthians 9:16 (NCV)

Merriam-Webster dictionary defines duty as obligatory tasks, conduct, service, or functions that arise from one’s position (as in life or in a group). As children of God, it is our duty to share the good news in the world we live in. Sometimes we think that someone else will tell them or that we are under qualified. We think that people don’t want to hear the message we have to share or that we will be embarrassed when we talk to them.

The problem with those thoughts is they are all about us. We forget our duty is to complete the task we were assigned to do. We were sent to deliver the good news. All we have to do is deliver the news. God will do the rest. It is time for us to fulfill our duty.

I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes… Romans 1:16 (NIV)
