A Prophecy of the Authority of Jesus

A Prophecy of the Authority of Jesus

“I will give him the key to the house of David – the highest position in the royal court. When he opens doors, no one will be able to close them; when he closes doors, no one will be able to open them.” Isaiah 22:22 (NLT)

In this passage, it is prophesied that the Savior would be given “the key to the house of David”, which is a very high honor as David was a great king of ancient Israel with high faith and trust in God as well as having received many blessings from God, and his life is chronicled in the Old Testament book of Samuel.

Further, this prophecy states that the one with highest position will also be given full authority over all things as he will be the only one capable of deciding what to allow or disallow. Jesus’ family line comes from the line of David (Luke 3: 23-37). The above prophecy is fulfilled by Jesus in Revelation 3:7 where it is stated that Jesus, He who is in the highest position, is indeed the one with all true authority.

When we recognize that Jesus has the true authority over all things, we can recognize that all things in our life, doors that open and those that close, are chosen by His judgment. We can then accept these changes in our life and know that they are intended to be in our best interest, and we ought to respect them.

Pray: Lord, you have the authority over all things in this life. Help me to surrender myself to your will and to live as you wish me to. Let me accept when a door in my life is closed and move onward as well as welcome a new door that opens, even if I may feel trepidation toward it. Thank you for all things you have provided for me in my life and those that are to come. Amen.
