Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters. Colossians 3:23 (NIV)
It is easy to believe that your work isn’t as important unless you are working in a position in the church. We think pastors and church workers are making a bigger impact and their job matters more to God.
But that is not how God views our work. Looking back at the heroes of faith in Hebrews 11, many of them didn’t work in the church. Abel was a farmer who worked the land. Abraham raised flocks. David started tending his father’s flock and later became king. Each of them put everything they had into serving God. Whatever you do matters to God. Put all your heart in it.
Prayer: God, thank you for reminding me that what I do is important to you. You created me for the work I am doing. Help me to put my whole heart in it.
