Authorized Messengers

Authorized Messengers

…that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them.  And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.  We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.  We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.  2 Corinthians 5:19-20 (NIV)

Ambassador: an authorized representative or messenger. [Merriam-Webster Dictionary]

The verse above tells us that we are ambassadors or “authorized messengers” for Jesus.  As an authorized messenger, you have been empowered and equipped to handle the tasks given to you by Jesus.  We are to take Christ’s message of love and hope to the world.  Think about that for a moment.  You are equipped with everything that you need to share Christ’s message of hope with the world.  Sometimes we feel that we aren’t the solution and that someone else will carry that message to our family and friends.  Sometimes we feel that we don’t have the right words or that we don’t know enough Bible verses.  But you are more capable than you think because you have been authorized by Jesus to share His message.   Look at the three questions below.

  • How well do you represent Christ in your home?
  • How well do you represent Christ at work?
  • How well do you represent Christ in your neighborhood?

Next, pick one of the three questions above.  What can you do differently today to better represent Christ in that area?

Tip: When sharing the message of Jesus with others, you can start by simply sharing what Christ has done for you and how He has impacted your life.
