But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it. James 1:22-25 (NLT)
It is one thing when we say we will do something, but another when we actually do it. The Bible warns us of this by telling us to be doers of the Word, not just listeners. It does not matter how much we read the Bible if we do not follow what it says and apply it to our life.
We need to make sure we are doers of the Word and people of action. We can do this by taking what we have read in the Bible and applying it at home, at work, with friends, and all other areas of our life. If we continue to be doers of the Word, God will bless us for obeying Him!
