Being Generous

Being Generous

Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. By doing this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life. 1 Timothy 6:18-19 (NLT)

Paul is talking about those who are wealthy, but this can pertain to anyone. As someone who follows Christ, we need to make everything, even our money, available for God’s use. What does God care about more than anything else? People. As a Christian, we need to be willing and able to help others in need. We have to have a servant’s heart and put others first. Have you ever heard the saying, “The world doesn’t revolve around you?” Sometimes we have to realize that it’s not about us. We need to be generous with all the things that God has given to us and learn how to help others when they need it most. Whether it is with your time, your money, or your resources. The way to live a good life is to pour into others. Everyone hits a low point at some time or another and needs help. Be the one that helps others through their low point and don’t be afraid to ask for help during yours.

Next Steps
Think of the ways that you help others. Is there any way to improve or be more generous? Pray to God to lead you to those that need help and welcome them with an open and generous heart.
