We Can Face Our Giants

We Can Face Our Giants

“David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down…” 1 Samuel 17: 45-46 (NIV)

David was a young man who didn’t seem to be particularly special. He seemed very ordinary in many ways and no one seriously considered that one day he would be a hero and a leader of Israel. However, one extraordinary aspect about David was his faith in God.  It was this faith that gave him a foundation of strength to go and meet whatever obstacles he came across. When David learned of Goliath’s challenge, David knew that God would deliver a victory to him. With God, David knew he could face the giant, and so too can we face the giants in our lives courageously with God.

Consider today what giants are in your life – finances, relationships, work, etc. What may seem like insurmountable troubles can be faced and defeated with God at our side. Search the Bible for passages related to the giants you face and see the perspective that God gives you about them. Reflect on what God teaches about them and try to apply it to your own life.
