So I do not run without a goal. I fight like a boxer who is hitting something—not just the air. 1 Corinthians 9:26 (NCV)
Have you ever experienced chasing a young toddler or maybe even a pet? The more you try to chase them, the wilder they get. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to where they are going. You just seem to keep running without any goals in mind of where you are going. It feels as if you are running in circles with no destination to be reached.
Living a life without goals can feel the same way. God created us to live an abundant life (John 10:10). For each one of us, our version of an abundant life may look a little different. Each of us should seek God for the goal He has determined for our lives. This will allow us to focus on the future God has created us for instead of running in circles.
Prayer: God, thank you that you sent your Son so that I may have an abundant life. Show me the goals you have for my life. Help me focus on the plans you have for me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
