Press Toward the Goal

Press Toward the Goal

I do not mean that I am already as God wants me to be. I have not yet reached that goal, but I continue trying to reach it and to make it mine. Christ wants me to do that, which is the reason he made me his. Brothers and sisters, I know that I have not yet reached that goal, but there is one thing I always do. Forgetting the past and straining toward what is ahead, I keep trying to reach the goal and get the prize for which God called me through Christ to the life above. All of us who are spiritually mature should think this way, too. And if there are things you do not agree with, God will make them clear to you. Philippians 3:12-15 (NCV)

We were created by God for a purpose.  The Bible tells us God knew us before we were born (Psalm 139:13).  He has predestined us to be His children (Ephesians 1:5).  God knows how our life will play out.  He has plans for us but it is up to us to accomplish all God has in store for us.

Paul tells us that he is continuing to reach for the goal that Christ made him for.  We should do the same thing.  We can continue to try to make it ours.  We can ask God what goals we should set and continue to try to reach for them.  As we continue to press for the goals God has planned for us, we will continue to find our purpose.

Prayer: God, thank you that you created me for a purpose.  Help me set goals that will show me the purpose you have for me.  I want to fulfill the destiny you have created me for.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
