Two Four Letter Words

Two Four Letter Words

“So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NLT)

We have been challenged this week to engage with people we can coach and mentor.  Our focus has been directed to show love and acceptance to the next generation.  Two critical tools for success in our mission to connect with others are LOVE and TIME.

In a world filled with technology, we may be tempted to casually reach out to people.  Use caution with technology when building relationships.  Technology used incorrectly divides relationships because it causes people to have brief interactions without true engagement.

When you are building a connection it is important to hear each other’s voice and to spend time together.  You can’t give quality time without giving a quantity of time.  You show people your affection when you give people your attention.

PRAY: Dear God, this may be another hard challenge – to pick up the phone or to make time to see people.  Lord, you know our schedules.  You know how technology works…sometimes against relationships because it doesn’t take time and it doesn’t show love.  Help us to make people a priority.  Help us to commit to the challenge to really connect and engage with someone we can coach or mentor.  Help us to invest ourselves (with time and love) to making an impact in someone else’s life.  Help us to make an impact in heaven for the next generation. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
