Forgive

Forgive

“…and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us.” Matthew 6:12 (NLT)

Each of us has felt wronged by another person. It may be something they did intentionally, or it may be our perception of the situation. God reminds us to forgive others. Forgiveness is so important to God that he told us to leave our worship and go forgive those that have wronged us (Matthew 5:24). One definition of forgive is to cancel a debt. We need to cancel the debt of the wrongdoing. We may feel as if they owe us for what they have done, but we can release them. When we release them, it doesn’t mean we automatically let our guard down to allow them to hurt us again. But we can forgive them, knowing that God has forgiven us for the wrongdoing we have committed.

Prayer: God, thank you for forgiving me. I may not be deserving of your forgiveness, but you grant it anyway. Show me who I need to forgive in my life. Help me take the necessary steps to offer them forgiveness. In Jesus name. Amen.
