When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!”…and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon’s partners. Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.” So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him. Luke 5:8, 10-11 (NIV)
The Bible is full of examples of men and women who gave God their all. Abram left his home and travelled to a land God would show him (Genesis 12:1). He became the father of many nations. Rahab was willing to give up everything she knew to protect her family (Joshua 2). She became one of the descendants of Jesus. Peter left everything behind and became a disciple of Jesus and spread the gospel in his time.
While each of these people gave up a lot for God, it was nothing compared to what they received in return. Each of them had an impact on eternity. Each of them had an impact on future generations. We can impact the world around us – all we have to do is give it our all.
Prayer:
God, thank you for wanting to use me to impact eternity. Show me what I should do and who I can help to bring change to the world around me. I am willing to give it my all. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
