Go Back and Thank God

Go Back and Thank God

…ten men with leprosy came toward him. They stood at a distance and shouted, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!” Jesus looked at them and said, “Go show yourselves to the priests.” On their way they were healed. When one of them discovered that he was healed, he came back, shouting praises to God. He bowed down at the feet of Jesus and thanked him. The man was from the country of Samaria. Jesus asked, “Weren’t ten men healed? Where are the other nine? Why was this foreigner the only one who came back to thank God?” Then Jesus told the man, “You may get up and go. Your faith has made you well.” Luke 17:12-19 (CEV)

Ten men had a disease that prevented them from having any human contact with others. As lepers, they had to live away from other people so as not to spread the disease. They cried out to Jesus for healing and He granted their request. He gave them instructions to show themselves to the priests, as was the custom of the day. Only one of them took the time to go back and show gratitude for the life-changing healing they were given.

We receive blessings from God every day. Sometimes they are big life-changing items and other times they are small personal items. When we receive a blessing from God, no matter the size, we should take the time to go back and thank Him for what He has done for us.

Next Steps:
Reflect on the last week. Identify three things God has done for you. Spend time thanking Him for what He has done in your life.
