Identity

Identity

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalm 139:14 (NIV)

You are a masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10).  You are the work of God’s hands (Isaiah 64:8).  You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).  You were created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27).  God formed you before you were born (Psalms 139:13, Jeremiah 1:5).  God predestined, called, justified and glorified you (Romans 8:30).  You are God’s workmanship (Ephesians 2:10).

Your identity does not come from your job or your relationships.  Your identity does not come from how you volunteer your time or care for others.  Your identity comes from your creator.  These other things are the byproducts of who God says you are.  He created you for a unique purpose that only you can do.  He set you in a time and place to accomplish the purpose He has just for you.  That is your identity!

Prayer:
God, thank you that my identity comes from you.  I’m sorry for trying to get my identity from my job and relationships.  Show me today the unique purpose you have for me.  Help me to walk in the identity you have for me.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
