In the spring, at the time when kings go off to war, David sent Joab out with the king’s men and the whole Israelite army. . . . One evening David got up from his bed and walked around on the roof of the palace… 2 Samuel 11:1-2 (NIV)
David had a job to do. He was responsible for ruling his country and overseeing his army as they went into battle. David decided to leave Joab, the leader of his army, in charge instead of being where he was supposed to be. Because he was not in the place he was meant to be, he ended up falling into sin. He had an affair with a married woman, got her pregnant and had her husband killed when he couldn’t cover up what he did. David had a choice to be where God wanted him to be or go his own way.
We have the same choice in life. God has a plan for us. We can choose to follow His plan for us or we can choose to go our own way. While this does not guarantee everything will work out the way we want, it places us in the path God has for us so that He can bless us. Where will you be in the spring?
Prayer: God, thank you that you have a plan for my life. I want to be in the place you have destined for me to be in this season of my life. Show me if there is anything I need to do to be in the right place.
