“By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35 (NKJV)

The church of Acts was known for their love for others. In Acts, we are told they sold what they had and shared with others in need (Acts 2:45). They were also known in ancient times for caring for the sick, even if they were not part of the church. The early church was there to help others even when it could put their lives at risk. This early group of believers did this as an overflow of the love they had for God and others.

We can show the same love to the world around us. We can show love to those who are sick and hurting. We can show love to the poor and needy. We can show love to our family, friends, and neighbors. We can show love to our co-workers or the strangers we meet at the grocery store. We can show love because God loves us.

Next steps: Find one person today to demonstrate God’s love to. Be a shoulder to cry on. Give some words of encouragement to someone who may be having a bad day. Offer to help someone.
