“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” Matthew 7:13-14 (NIV)
There are a lot of good people on the earth. Many of them show love for their families. They will provide help for someone in need. They may give to the poor or visit prisoners. But that is not what will get a person into heaven. Our actions do not get us into heaven or help us avoid spending eternity in hell. The path to life is a narrow gate only through accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior of your life. By entering the narrow gate and allowing God to change your life, the good deeds will begin to naturally flow in your life. Choose the narrow gate.
Prayer: God, thank you for reminding me that good deeds do not get us into heaven. The gate is narrow and is only available through you. Bring someone across my path today that I can direct toward the narrow gate. In Jesus name. Amen.
