Obey God

Obey God

“Look, today I am giving you the choice between a blessing and a curse! You will be blessed if you obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today.”  Deuteronomy 11:26-27 (NLT)

Now our knowledge is partial and incomplete, and even the gift of prophecy reveals only part of the whole picture!  1 Corinthians 13:9 (NLT)

It’s important that we obey God for two reasons.  First, the Bible tells us that we will be blessed if we obey God.  God wants us to succeed in every area of our life.  He gave us the Bible to instruct us and guide us in life.  When we obey God (do what He tells us to do regardless of what we feel or think), He then blesses us for our obedience to Him.

Second, the Bible clearly states that “we know in part” which means we don’t know everything.  So, when you are analyzing a situation, it’s important to realize that you are only seeing half of the picture.  That’s why Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.  Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”   Notice, the idea here is that we should not depend solely on our own understanding because we are only seeing half of the picture.  So, when you encounter a decision in life, remember that you only see in part, but God knows everything.  Seek God’s guidance on your next step in your decision-making process.

Prayer:
God, I want your guidance and direction.  Help me to obey you in every area of my life so that I will be blessed.  I understand that I see in part, but you know everything.  Help me to put my trust completely in you as you guide me in my decision-making process and make it extremely clear as to which choice I should make.  In Jesus’ Name.  Amen
