Put on All of God’s Armor

Put on All of God’s Armor

Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:11-12 (NLT)

You’ve probably seen movies where Roman soldiers were in battle. Maybe they had such items as a helmet, sword, shield, etc. All of these items (and their extensive training) was designed to give them an advantage during battles. The verses directly after Ephesians 6:12 talk specifically about us putting on various pieces of armor like a soldier. But what’s very interesting is that the verse above tells us to “Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.” Notice, we are not putting on the armor to fight, we are putting on the armor to stand. God will be our defense when people gossip about us. God will be our helper when times are difficult. God will be our provider when we lack anything in life. Let God fight your battles. He simply wants you to put on the armor to be prepared against (and to resist) the temptations of the enemy, and He (God) will take care of your battles. In what area do you need to stop fighting and turn the issue over to God?
