“Call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.” Psalm 50:15 (NIV)
It is not uncommon for us to call on God when we have trouble in our lives and feel overwhelmed by them. It’s good to call on Him for help in times of trouble. However, we should also remember that God is not just a last resort. We may try to solve our problems all on our own first and only turn to God when we have exhausted all other possibilities. God will be with us from the very beginning of any troubles we may face and we should trust Him. We will all face difficult events and circumstances throughout life, but we can face them with the assurance that God is with us. We should refocus by turning to Him first and not last when we are struggling.
Prayer: Lord, I am grateful for you at all times. When I face difficulty, I know you are with me and will provide for me. Help me to turn to you first when I struggle and to trust you fully from the start, not just turning to you when I feel there is nowhere else to turn. Help me to confront any fears or worries I have and to not let them get in the way of trusting you. Amen.
