Restore Them Gently

Restore Them Gently

Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:1-2 (NIV)

The bible gives us a blueprint for restoring others.  If you know of someone who is caught in sin, the verse above tells us that we should restore them gently, or as gently as we would want Christ to deal with us.  The verse also tells us to be careful as we are trying to help restore them so that we are not tempted in the process.  As an example, let’s say that you have struggled with a particular sin in your own life.  You see someone else struggling with the same thing.  The bible tells us to be careful as we assist them so that we are not lured back into the same behavior.  In some cases, it may even be wise to have someone else lend assistance (if you recently overcame that area) to ensure that you maintain your focus of living according to God’s standards.  Based on what you read today, what can you do to help someone else struggling in their life?
