. . . . Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Romans 8:34 (NIV)
Imagine being in a courtroom. The defendant and defendant’s attorney are standing in front of the judge. The defendant is guilty of the crimes being charged against them. The attorney knows the defendant is guilty of the crime they are being charged with. However, the attorney’s job is to intercede with the judge on behalf of their client. The attorney will do everything in their power to help their client.
We are all guilty of the crime of sin. We deserve to pay for our crimes. Jesus died on the cross for our sins to pay a debt that He didn’t owe. Also, Jesus is at God’s right hand pleading our case as He has paid for our crimes. Every time we make a mistake, Jesus reminds God that while we may be guilty of the crimes of sin, we are forgiven by the blood of Christ. While we may not be perfect yet, we have the hope of God for change in our lives to make us more like Him. Our intercessor is at God’s right hand.
Prayer: God, thank you for reminding me that I have an intercessor at your right hand. Help me to view myself through your eyes. Help me to forgive myself and move past my mistakes. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
