Take A Break

Take A Break

The apostles returned to Jesus from their ministry tour and told him all they had done and taught. Then Jesus said, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.” He said this because there were so many people coming and going that Jesus and his apostles didn’t even have time to eat. So they left by boat for a quiet place, where they could be alone. Mark 6:30-32 (NLT)

Then Jesus said to them, “The Sabbath was made to meet the needs of people, and not people to meet the requirements of the Sabbath.” Mark 2:27 (NLT)

This is a bonus devotion. Pastor Jeff reminds us how important it is to be productive but also to enjoy life. We work hard, we should play hard too. We should also plan time to be alone, to rest. Rest refills us.

God made our bodies, brains, and souls to need rest. God specifically designed a holy Sabbath Day. A day of rest meets the needs of people. Studies show if you rest one day of the week you are better off. Even more, God promises if you do this, rest one day of the week, He will bless the other six. What have you got to lose?

Plan & Pray: Take some time this weekend to relax, enjoy yourself, and find some quiet time. Later reflect back on what benefits you received from the break. Even more, pray ahead of time and ask God to keep His promise: to bless your rest and also to multiply your productivity. Enjoy your day.
