For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives. Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. Romans 6:4-5 (NLT)
Making the decision to follow Jesus and make Him the Lord of your life is a great first step in living a God-centered life, but there is more! God’s Word (the Bible) tells us that we need to be baptized – it’s a commandment from God to us.
Baptism is not only a public demonstration of our faith, but it is a symbol of our new life in Christ. Jesus died, was buried, and rose again. After we accept Christ, we to are buried (submerged in water through baptism) and rise (come out from the water) to new life in Jesus.
