The Blessings of God

The Blessings of God

You want something you don’t have, and you will do anything to get it. You will even kill! But you still cannot get what you want, and you won’t get it by fighting and arguing. You should pray for it. Yet even when you do pray, your prayers are not answered, because you pray just for selfish reasons. James 4:2-3 (CEV)

Like any loving parent, God cares for us and wants to see us reach our full potential. God wants to bless us, but the verse above gives us a word of caution. It tells us that our prayers go unanswered because we pray for selfish reasons. Yes, God wants to bless His people, but He also wants you to use those blessings to benefit the Kingdom of God. When is the last time you prayed and asked God to bless you so you could use the blessings and increase to help others? Reflect on the verse above. Pray for God’s blessings in your life, not just for your own consumption, but to impact others and draw them closer to Jesus.
