“The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:29-31 (NIV)
We were created for relationships. Our first focus should be on the relationship between us and God. We were created to walk closely with Him in life and to reflect His image in the world around us. Our next focus should be on relationships with those around us. These relationships are to help us become more like God. He can use them to work things out in us that prevent us from reflecting God in the world. It is time for us to focus on the most important ones.
Prayer: God, thank you for the reminder that I was created for relationship. Help me to focus on the most important ones in my life. Show me the areas I need to cut back on that distract me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
