Time to Connect

Since we are all one Body in Christ, we belong to each other, and each of us needs all the others. Romans 12:5b (NLT)

It is so easy to try to do things on our own. We believe no one understands what we are going through. We believe we can make it on our own without help from others. We believe we always have to look strong in case others are watching us.  But we forget that others are really watching us.

A story was shared with me this week by a person who knew a woman that was struggling with a recent divorce and had an employer who was treating her unfairly. The two women spent time in prayer and crying together over the situation. Both women were carrying the burden belonging to only one of them. Four weeks later, the women ended up rejoicing because God blessed her with a new job. Now, they were celebrating together. A deep bond was formed that these women will share forever.

The Bible says we need each other and even though we don’t always want to admit it, we do. When things aren’t going well, we need others to help carry our burden (by praying with us and reminding us to give our burdens to the Lord in prayer). We need others to encourage us, cry with us and grieve with us. When things are going well, we need others to celebrate with us. Not only do we need to be there for each other, but the world needs to see us being there for each other. How else will they know where to go when they are hurting?
