Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Romans 12:2 (NLT)
Have you ever bought a new car then noticed that car model was everywhere? Every place you drove, there it was. They may be different colors, but they seem to show up wherever you look. You see them now, not because everyone ran out and bought the same car as you, but because you have become aware of them in your surroundings. Most likely, many people were already driving the same car but you just never noticed them. Once you change your focus you notice them consistently.
It is easy to focus on all the things wrong in life. Our focus can be on the hurts and wounds of the past or the concerns of our future. We can also focus on the negative things happening around us. In some cases, we are looking for things to go wrong. As we focus on the negative, we can see it all around.
God wants to change the way we think. He wants us to focus on what is good, true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable and praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8). As we focus on the good things in life, we will notice that our lives are filled with good things. It is not that bad things don’t happen in our lives, but our lives are also filled with good. It is time to change our focus to look for the blessings in our lives.
