Travelling Into The Unknown

Travelling Into The Unknown

By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. Hebrews 11:8 (NIV)

Abraham was told by God to pack up his family and belongings and travel to a land God would show him (see Genesis 12). God didn’t tell him the destination, but did tell him the blessings he would receive once he arrived. Not only was Abraham going to be blessed, but his family for generations to come would be blessed just because he followed God’s direction. Abraham was seventy-five years old when he obeyed God and departed from Harran (see Genesis 12:4). He packed up his life and went on to journey into the unknown.

God calls us to do the same. Our journey may not be to pack up everything we own to follow God, but our journey will still cause us to step out of our comfort zone. We may have to share our faith with a coworker or neighbor. We may need to leave a comfortable job and move to a new company. We may need to start a new company so God can use us to bless others. No matter what our journey may be, God promises us blessings when we obey Him and take the step of faith to travel into the unknown.
