But among you it will be different. Those who are the greatest among you should take the lowest rank, and the leader should be like a servant. Luke 22:26 (NLT)
Many of us love to be leaders, the person in charge or “the boss.” We may even think being a leader means the focus is on us and we shine as the star. True leadership in the eyes of God is much different than what we may think of leadership.
Scripture tells us that the greatest among the people will take the lowest rank. Jesus also goes on to say that the leader shall be like a servant. This is very different than the way we view leadership! God’s Word shows us that to be leaders we must put ourselves second and others first and serve unselfishly. We are to be like Jesus with a servant’s heart, willing to serve the body of Christ.
