“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:41-42 (NIV)
We all have responsibilities to take care of. These can be important activities in our lives, but they are not the most important things. God reminds us that relationship is more important than activity. He reminds us that Mary chose the better thing: to spend time with Him. We need to value presence over busyness.
Prayer: God, thank you for reminding me about the better thing. I choose to value presence over busyness. Show me the areas where I need to reduce busyness to make time for presence. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
