Who Is This Guy?

The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. They brought the donkey and the colt, placed their cloaks on them, and Jesus sat on them. A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Hosanna in the highest!” When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?” The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.” Matthew 21:6-11 (NIV)

Jesus was many things to many people. To some, Jesus was a man who performed signs and wonders. To the Greeks, Jesus was a man of morality and monotheism (a belief based on the fact that there is one God). To the religious leaders, Jesus was a threat to their traditions and rituals.  Even others believed Jesus was a king that would lead them to political freedoms. So, who was Jesus?

Jesus was the Son of God who came to take away the sins of the world. Jesus said “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 (NLT)

During Holy week (the week before Easter), determine for yourself: Who is Jesus to you?
